Obituary

Robert (Bob) Arnold Ambos of Fort Myers, Florida formerly of Palatine, Illinois and Las Vegas, Nevada passed away peacefully at the age of 83 with family by his side on Wednesday, December 24, 2025.

Bob was born on April 11, 1942 in Newark, New Jersey to Arnold and Doris Ambos. Bob and his parents moved to Palatine, Illinois when he was a young boy. He graduated from Palatine High School. He worked for Centel Telephone Company in Des Plaines, Illinois for 34 years as a Data/PBX installer. Bob enjoyed the many cruises and vacations he and Barb took together and with family and friends over the years, which brought a lot of joy and laughter. He always had a quick comeback for almost every conversation. Bob was an avid fan of the Chicago Bears and Chicago Cubs.

Bob is survived by his loving wife Barbara, brother in law and wife Bill and Judy Oerke, and cousin Sally Frumkin who was like his big sister to him. He is also survived by extended family and many friends.

Bob is preceded in death by his parents Arnold and Doris Ambos, daughter Courtney Ann Ambos, and son Robert Arnold Ambos Jr.

A celebration of Bob’s life will be held at a later date.
