Obituary
Robert Angus Cushman, a designer and builder of fine residential communities, passed away of complications from Progressive Supranuclear Palsy on July 10, 2023 at the age of 87. Robert was a long-time resident of Longwood, Florida.
Robert is survived by his wife, Elizabeth Cushman (nee Walker) of 67 years; his son and daughter-in-law, Robert Jr. and Judy Cushman and his daughter and son-in-law, Sherri and David Canther. Robert is survived by four grandchildren, Ryan, Andrew, Mathew, and Autumn with their spouses, Devin, Raquel, and Tessa along with seven great-grandchildren.
Robert was born in Pittsfield, Massachusetts on July 4, 1936 to Harold and Nina Cushman of Otis, Massachusetts. He began working in residential construction at an early age and learned his craft by watching his father and others he worked with through his teens and twenties. He went on to become a skilled residential architect and home builder. On June 15, 1956, Robert married Elizabeth Walker, an accountant.
Robert was a devoted husband, father, and contributor to his local community. He believed in helping those less fortunate and spent many years mentoring young people in his church and community. One of his proudest achievements was developing the residential community of Ravensbrook in Longwood, Florida, where he provided homes for generations of families. Robert and Elizabeth lived in Ravensbrook for over 50 years and developed many lifelong friendships with their neighbors.
