Obituary

Robert F Araway, 84, of New Smyrna Beach, FL passed away August 9, 2021. He was born in Bellingham, Washington where he lived until he was 18. Robert moved to Grand Rapids Michigan and for 32 years he managed Mr. Fables Restaurant. After his retirement in June 1989, he relocated to New Smyrna Beach and began his second career. He with his wife Ellie managed the Golden Arms Condominiums for over 20 years.  Robert was a very social person who enjoyed dancing, traveling, and listening to music. His family was most important to him, and he took great pride in providing for them. Left to cherish his memory is his wife Elleen “Ellie”; children, Rob Hansknecht, Karen Hansknecht, and Kennedy Schild; and sister, Marilyn Almquist. Besides his parents he was predeceased by his brother. Family and friends may call Saturday, August 14, 2021 from 2-4 pm at Baldwin Brothers Funeral Home 1 N Causeway New Smyrna Beach.

    I worked with Bob at Mr. Fables on Alpine Avenue to help pay for college. I have many fond memories of him and found him to be funny, fair, honest and tough when he needed to be because he knew what he was doing.
