Obituary
Robert Perry “Sandy” Ausbrooks, Jr., a native of Nashville, TN, and 20-year resident of Palm Coast, FL, went home to be with his Lord and Savior Jesus Christ at the age of 70 on Sunday morning 20 February 2022, peacefully surrounded by family. His battle against cancer was ultimately won with him resting eternally in Heaven.
Sandy, born in Nasvhille, TN on December 21st, 1951, to Robert Perry Ausbrooks, Sr. and Bobbye (Williams) Ausbrooks, was a Christian husband, father, grandfather, and great-grandfather. He graduated from Isaac Litton High School (Class of 1969) and earned his B.S. in Business Administration from La Salle University. He served in the U.S. Navy, then spent many years in the insurance industry. He married his wife, Diane (Browning) Ausbrooks, nearly 29 years ago in 1993. For the last 20 years he participated in “legal highway robbery”, as he called it, as the toll bridge manager in Palm Coast, FL. He was the voice of the Parkview Baptist Eagles and the Baton Rouge Kingfish. He was a long-time member of, and a chaplain for, American Legion Post 115, and a faithful member of Parkview Church in Palm Coast. He was a jack-of-all-trades and often juggled multiple jobs simultaneously as well as multiple hobbies. He loved traveling regularly, listening to country and gospel music, “hacking” around at golf, shooting pistols, and spending time with his family. He knew from age 10 that he’d be in heaven one day, thanks to his Aunt Ginny Grossman and Child Evangelism Fellowship. He tried to live out his life as a testimony that “God is love”.
Sandy was preceded in death by his father, Robert. He is survived by his wife Diane, his daughter Christie Lynn (Ian) Kenney, Stepdaughter Lori (Jason) Schiess, stepson Michael (fiance Jenny) Zeigler, son Maj. Benjamin (Amy) Ausbrooks, USMC (Retired), daughter Jennifer (John) Scott, daughter Jeanette (Mason) Booth, son Robert Perry (fiance Madison) Ausbrooks, III (U.S. Army veteran), his mother Bobbye Delgado and stepfather David Delgado, stepmother Lucy Ausbrooks, 17 grandchildren, 3 great-grandchildren, and 1 great-grandchild on the way.
