Obituary

Robert “Bob” John Gaida, 76, of The Villages FL, passed away on March 16, 2022, at Serenades Memory Care Facility. He departed this life after a 10-year battle with frontotemporal dementia.

Robert was born in Gallitzin, PA on November 3, 1945, son of William Gaida and Tillie Bem Gaida. His career aspirations took him to Edison, NJ in 1964 where he took a job at Ford Motor Company. Robert married Karen Gentile on February 27, 1965. Following their union, they started a family and settled down in New Brunswick, NJ. Bob stayed at Ford until 1999, culminating in the position of Manager of Manufacturing Engineering. On April 16, 2004, the couple moved to The Villages, Florida to enjoy their retirement.

Bob was beloved by his family and friends. He was an exceptional husband, father, and grandfather. Many that knew him have expressed what a kind and fun soul he was. He was a family man and put a great importance on being the provider. His pastimes included bowling, poker, auto-repair, carpentry and especially golf. Robert had an incredible talent for golf, which was a big part of his day-to-day life after retirement.

Robert was preceded in death by his brothers William Gaida and Walter Gaida.

Robert is survived by his wife Karen Gaida; daughters Jeanette Kostival and Brenda Flaherty; brother Francis Gaida; sister Barbara Gaida; grandchildren Brent Kostival, Brielle (Thomas) Pannullo, Grace Flaherty, and Caleigh Flaherty; and great grandson Oliver Pannullo.

    Karen & family, Frank, Barbara & family,

    We all are going to miss "Bob" one of the nicest, kindest, thoughtful persons I've know. He lived with us for a time in 1963 and you
    really begin to know what a special man he was. He will always be in your hearts. Loving you as you loved him.

    I can just picture him playing cards with Billy, Wally, Tillie & Bill. Lots of laughter going on. What a special man!

    Rest in the knowledge that you know where to find Bob, and someday, you will meet him there in a grand joyous reunion with Bob, Aunt Tillie, Uncle Bill, Billy & Wally. Bob, may your soul soar as you reach out to touch the face of God. Rest in peace cousin.

    Karen,
    On a humorous note, I recall the first time I went 100 miles per hour, it was from Gallitzin to Forest Zoo. Bobby was driving Uncle Bill's black and yellow 57 Ford. It was a ride I'll never forget! God Bless him. So many wonderful memories.

    So sad to learn of Bob's passing. He was a great neighbor in South Brunswick. Many years ago, he taught my son, Jason, the basics of golf with clubs Jason collected from garage sales. It meant a lot to him. Bob was a wonderful person.

    Karen et al;

    It broke my heart to learn about Bob's passing. Although he did suffer for such a long time, the end must still hurt. I know that we have not been close for a long time, that does not mean I have not thought of you often and I kept up with you and the family on Facebook.

    Bob was such a wonderful guy who David and I met so many years ago. I remember your family's thoughtfulness every holiday when you invited us to share them with you. I remember the graduations, engagements, weddings and births of yours and Bob's grandchildren. We were there and now we are here to celebrate the life of a wonderful, kind, giving and humble man who was loved by all.

    David and I want to send to you, Jeanette, Brenda, Brent, Brielle and little Oliver our sincerest sympathies.

    May God be with you all. R.I.P. Bob, you will be missed.

    Sheila and David
