Obituary
Robert (Bob) Lee Nelson Jr was 59 years old when he passed away on October 31, 2022 at the Brandley Hospice House of Marion County, Florida. Bob is survived by his wife Linda (Robinson) Nelson of 15 years of Summerfield FL, his parents Robert Lee Nelson Sr. and Dora Nelson of Beachwood NJ, his sister Doreen Nelson and his nieces and nephew Alecia, Jon and Catalina Brust.
Bob grew up at the shore in Bayville, NJ where he played Varsity baseball for Central Regional High School. His nickname was the mongoose because of his amazing prowess at first base. He loved water skiing, crabbing and being with his cousins during the summer.
Bob and Linda moved to Summerfield, FL in 2017 where they built their dream home. Bob and Linda rescued an Aussie Shepard, Vito, to complete their family. Bob enjoyed watching sports, especially baseball with his “lady” Linda. Of course, Bob being a Mets fan and Linda a Yankees fan created some fun competition and ribbing.
It didn’t take much to make Bob happy. A smile from Linda, holding hands while sitting on the couch watching baseball, a road trip, going to Rutgers football games, enjoying a NJ pizza, or singing Kenny Rogers ‘Lady’ to his wife, Linda. Through all of Bob’s health problems, he remained optimistic and upbeat. He was a true fighter and inspiration. Bob and Linda had a true partnership – they relied on each other to be their anchor no matter what storms prevailed throughout their 15 years of marriage. Bob was loyal, funny, caring, smart, considerate and a great man to all that were lucky enough to cross his path.
The family would like to express their gratitude for the wonderful care given by the Brandley Hospice House of Marion County. They took great care of Bob and made him comfortable during his time there. If anyone would like to make a contribution to the American Cancer Society or the Crohn’s and Colitis Coalition in Bob’s name, that would greatly be appreciated. Arrangements entrusted with BALDWIN BROTHERS Funeral & Cremation Society-Spanish Springs, 352-480-5959. Sentiments are encouraged at www.baldwincremation.com.
