Obituary
Robert (Bob) Paul Poskus, age 94, loving husband and father of three children, passed away on Wednesday, March 13, 2024, in Sarasota Florida. Bob was born on July 20, 1929, in Worcester, Massachusetts to Elizabeth and Albert Poskus and was the second of three children. He graduated from Fitchburg State College and College of the Holy Cross with a Master of Education degree and was a junior high school science teacher/department head for many years. On October 20, 1951, he married Mary Ann Mattiucci. They raised three daughters, Diane, Cheryl and Elaine. During his retirement years, Bob and Mary’s passion for traveling took them all over the world, including going on over 50 cruises. It’s safe to say that we all lost count after 50! His hobbies included playing golf and painting. He especially loved painting pictures for family members, including seascapes, scenes from his travels and “custom” paintings created from photos of their favorite trips. Several family members have their own mini art galleries of his work on display in their homes as a reminder of his talent as an artist and his love of painting. He will live on forever in our memories through his paintings. We will all remember his quick wit, great sense of humor, his love of knowledge and his ability to stay calm in difficult situations, living by the saying “this too shall pass.” He is survived by his wife of 72 years, three children, seven grandchildren and nine great grandchildren, as well as several nieces, nephews, extended family members and friends, too numerous to mention but never forgotten. His ashes will be spread in the ocean in Florida by his wife, as per his wish.
