Obituary

Robert James Bowes, age 53, of Longwood, FL passed away peacefully with his wife by his side on August 31, 2021.  Robert was born on 9/28/1967 in Waterbury, CT.

Robert was preceded by his father William Bowes, mother Arlene Stafstrom and stepfather Terry Stafstrom.

Robert enjoyed target shooting, exotic cars with a particular fancy for Lamborghini’s and Ferraris, and spending time on the water in his kayak with a fishing pole in his hands.  Robert’s true love was his wife of 8 years, Carmine Bowes who came into his life just as he began his journey with cancer 11 years ago and stayed by his side throughout.   Robert was an extraordinary man to all that knew him, genuine to the bone, smart as a whip, and someone who would help anyone or fix anything that needed fixing.

Robert is survived by his brother William Bowes and daughter Courtney Bowes both of FL, his stepchildren, Katelyn and Michael Smith (Ganeisha Cruz) of CT,  niece, Jessica Bowes and nephew, Brandon Bowes, Robert also leaves behind his extended family from Holy Cross Lake Mary, FL where Robert worked as the facilities manager and his beloved little pup Hailey who sat by his side the last few months.

The family wishes to send a special thank you to the many people who assisted them during Roberts battle against cancer at Cancerbank.org, Hospice of the Comforter Altamonte Springs,  Advent Health Cancer Institute, Advent Health Radiation Oncology at Central Florida, the entire congregation at Holy Cross Lake Mary and staff at Holy Cross Lutheran Academy.

In lieu of flowers, the family asks that you honor Roberts memory by making donations to Cancerbank.org

A celebration of life will be held at Holy Cross Lake Mary at the convenience of the family.

Robert was my buddy…. I could call him anytime to go fishing, help me fix something, or go grab BBQ. He was also my hero, an inspiration to me to enjoy the little things and live life fully. Most of all he was my friend, someone I could share any and everything with, no matter how big or small. I miss him already.
