Obituary
Robert Emmett Broderick, 79, of Fort Myers, FL and formerly of Brooklyn, NY, passed away peacefully at his home with his family on October 24, 2023. Born on March 23, 1944 in Brooklyn, NY to the proud parents of John & Ann (McCarthy) Broderick, Robert was a retired policeman with the NYPD. A graduate of Samuel J. Tilden High School, where he was on the swim team, and of Nassau Community College, Robert joined the US Army from February 1962 to February of 1965. He also attained a 5th Degree Black Belt in Jiu Jitsu. His passion was his family, being with his wife and children and enjoying his grandchildren. He was also known to enjoy an occasional smoke and a cold beer.
Survivors include his beloved wife of 57 years, Virginia (Dery) Broderick; his loving children: #1-Kimberly Merriam (Ed Koschmider), #2-Tracy Edwards (Jim Edwards), #3-Tara Broderick-Stahl (Bill Stahl), #4-Robert Broderick, #5-Kerry Taylor; his siblings: Dr. John Broderick (Carol Broderick) and Anne Campisi Frank (Campisi); and his cherished grandchildren: Dr. John Merriam, Robert Broderick Hampton (Natasia) Hampton), Alyssa Edwards, Kiera Merriam, Zakary Edwards, Kayla Taylor, Ace Taylor and Axal Taylor.
The family will receive friends on Wednesday, November 1, 2023 form 10:00am to 12:00pm at Baldwin Brothers Cremation & Funeral, 4320 Colonial Blvd, Fort Myers with at committal service to follow at 2:00pm at Sarasota National Cemetery, Sarasota FL with US Army Honors.
