Obituary

Robert Charles Wilkinson Jr., passed peacefully with his loving wife at his side on Tuesday, April 19th, 2016, at home at the age of 69. Born and raised in Upper Darby, PA, Robert graduated from Haverford Senior High School in 1964. He is a veteran of the US Navy, completing several Mediterranean deployments onboard the USS Forrestal CV-59 as a RDE (Radarman-electronics). Upon his discharge from the Navy, he cultivated a career in telecommunications, merging his love for electronics with the skills he honed in the service. He worked for various telecommunication companies, including General Electric and Muzak before taking the brave step forward to forge his own company, CRC Communications. Forever a tinkerer, he found immense joy in constructing and maintaining a personal radio station which his sons and their friends used to broadcast to the local neighborhood. Upon retiring in 2007, he moved to Edgewater, FL, where he continued his love for radio by constructing another home radio station as well as assisting a local radio station. He continued working in his field at AT&T and Universal Studios while indulging his love of the ocean.

He is survived by his wife, Berneice; Sons Robert Charles Wilkinson III, Chad Wilkinson, and Corey Wilkinson; Daughters-in-law Tracie Wilkinson, Nicole Cirone, and Susie Wilkinson; Grandchildren Rayna Wilkinson, Kylie Wilkinson, and Emily Wilkinson; and Brother Donald Wilkinson. Also mourning Robert is his Florida family including Beneice’s children Angela, Alicia, April, and Andrew as well as her sisters and brothers; and seven grandchildren. He was preceded in death by his parents, Robert Charles Wilkinson and Julia Wilkinson; and his first wife, Carol Ann Wilkinson.

In lieu of flowers, the family wishes that donations be made in his name to the American Cancer Society.
