  • Obituary

Robert Ramiro Corpuz left this earth to dance with angels on Friday, June 2nd after a prolonged illness.

Robert was born January 27, 1973, at Subic Bay Naval Hospital in Subic Zambalas, Philippines; the first-born son of Bernardo Jr. and Cecilia Ramiro Corpuz. The family immigrated to the United States after Robert’s birth – first to Virginia, then ultimately settling in Orlando, Florida.

Robert was born with Down syndrome but never let it slow him down. Although he could not speak, Robert found creative ways to communicate using his own sign language, writing words, or drawing pictures. He carried a notebook with him everywhere he went to ensure he could engage with those around him.  Robert attended Magnolia school where he loved to color and draw, listen to music and be with his friends. Robert enjoyed eating the delicious meals his mother prepared for him. His absolute favorite activity was dancing; he would often grab a dance mate and twirl them repeatedly. He brought joy to everyone who met him with his smile and warm personality.

Robert lived beyond 50 years because of his mother, Cecilia, who cared tirelessly for him. This was especially true in his later years as his health deteriorated. Cecilia’s dedication, sacrifice and protective motherly instinct ensured Robert received the absolute best care twenty-four hours a day, 7 days a week. Robert and Cecilia shared a very special connection.

Robert is survived by his mother, Cecilia, his father, Bernardo, two brothers, Philbert and Gilbert and their respective families. The entire Corpuz family wishes to recognize Tracy Sherrod, Wendy Henry and Cindy Amorin for their love, care, and service to Robert, especially in the last few years.

Robert’s gentle spirit and warm smile will be missed but we take comfort in knowing Robert is dancing in heaven.

A private family goodbye will be held on Tuesday, June 6, 2023 at Baldwin Brothers Funeral & Cremation Society Orlando.

The Orlando Chapel of the Baldwin Brothers Funeral and Cremation Society is honored to care for Mr. Corpuz and his family at this time.  Those wishing to share a memory or light a virtual candle in his memory are encouraged to do so on his memorial page.
