Obituary

Robert Earle “Bob” Curtiss of Ocala, Fl passed away surrounded by his family on Monday, July 19,2021  following a short illness.

He is survived by his wife of 56 years, Linda, his son Jeff and wife Roxanne (Midway, NC), grandson Baeden (USMC, Camp Lejeune, NC), granddaughters Kess and Keira (both currently attending UNC-Asheville), his sister Marion (Yonkers, NY), a loving extended family and many life long friends.

He is predeceased by his father and mother, Earle and Agnes of Eastchester, NY.

Bob was born on May 20, 1940 in Scarsdale, NY. He was a graduate of Eastchester High School, attended Morrisville Junior College, and graduated from East Carolina University, where he was a member of APO fraternity.  He was a proud member of the Pleasant Garden, NC fire department for over 20 years. He was a shop teacher for a short period of time after graduating college. He spent his professional career as a claims adjuster with Nationwide, Integon, and finally as an independent before retiring to enjoy his passion of boating, the outdoors, traveling, fixing something (even if he had to break it first), satisfying his natural curiosity, and engaging in a ‘spirited conversation’ about just about anything. He never lost his fondness for Badin Lake or a good cruise (especially if he could find his way into the engine room).

During their married life, Bob and Linda lived in Pleasant Garden, NC, Wilmington, NC, Tavares, FL. (Royal Harbor) and most recently in Ocala, FL.

A memorial service will be conducted at a later time. Services entrusted to Baldwin Brothers Funeral & Cremation Society of Ocala.

Memorial donations may be made to St. Jude Children’s Hospital (http://giftfunds.stjude.org/BobCurtiss), to Hospice of Marion County, FL (https://www.hospiceofmarion.com/donate/), to Tunnels to Towers Foundation

Bless you Bob. May you rest in peace. I am sure you are handling the maintenance in Heaven. I am sorry we grew so far apart. Life was just too busy in retirement.
I will let all your buddies know: Dan Mcgill, Jim Swing, Tim , Stump, Bill Armour and Cathy Shoaf and many more.

I really don’t know what to say. The last time I saw Bob he had gone through so much and yet he still had that wonderful sense of humor. He was able to laugh at himself and his health problems. The good memories I have always involved eating out in restaurants and Bob entertaining us with jokes and interesting stories. One special memory is when he and Linda took my husband and me for a ride on their pontoon boat in Florida. Such a nice, funny, interesting man. I’ll miss him too.

Bob was a good friend and we will miss him. We admired his inquisitiveness and his sense of humor. We will cherish the memories or our camping days in Florida state parks and our get-to-gethers at the club house and in our homes. We all enjoyed eating out but Bob especially liked going to Ruby Tuesday for the BOGO special for a rare hamburger on a real plate. Linda, we know you will miss doing everything with your best friend and partner as you have during your fifty-six years of marriage. You are in our thoughts and prayers and we are only a phone call away.
