Obituary

Sanibel, FL- Robert B. Erskine, 88, most recently of Sanibel, Florida, and formerly of Albrightsville, Pennsylvania, died peacefully at his home on May 30, 2021. He was the husband of Anna Jeanette (Harbison) Erskine, with whom he would have celebrated 67 years of marriage on June 5th, 2021.

Bob was born on October 31,1932, in Hackensack, New Jersey, as the son of Kenneth W. Erskine and Elsie (Kraemer) Erskine. He graduated from Teaneck High School, where he played football, and received a R.O.T.C. naval scholarship to attend Villanova University, graduating with a B.S. in Mechanical Engineering. Commissioned as a naval officer, he served as the Chief Engineer on the U.S.S. Monssen.

For most of his civilian career, Bob excelled as a management consultant and corporate executive, and following retirement greatly enjoyed employment at the Lake Harmony Post Office, Lake Harmony, Pennsylvania, which offered daily contact with friends and golf buddies. Bob enjoyed a lifelong love of sports, German Shepherds, ice cream, travel, and spending time with his family. Bob also had a deep and abiding faith in Christ. Bob lived his faith through serving in the leadership of his local church, teaching bible studies, singing in the choir, and most of all, living out Christ’s call to love one’s neighbor as oneself. In whatever community he and Jeanette resided, they made deep connections with neighbors which have continued throughout their lifetime.

In addition to his wife, Jeanette, Bob is survived by four children: Dr. Ronald Erskine (Tina) of Grand Ledge, Michigan, Laura Erskine Scheeler of Clifton, New Jersey, Rev. Catherine Erskine Boileau (J. Michael) of York, Pennsylvania, and Jennifer Erskine-Cashin (Bryan) of Kronberg, Germany; five grandchildren, Megan O. Erskine, Kendra E. Erskine, Sierra D. Erskine, Samuel E. Boileau, Jonah M. Boileau; as well as a sister, Janet Benzell.

A Memorial Service will be announced at a later date to be held at Sanibel Congregational UCC Church in Sanibel, Florida.
