Obituary

Robert Eugene Forsee of Edgewater, Florida passed away peacefully on January 31, 2015 after complications arising from multiple strokes. Robert Eugene Forsee or "Gay Bob" as he was known by his friends, was born January 5, 1944 in Dayton, Ohio where he spent his childhood. At the young age of 16 Bob fraudulently enlisted in the United States Marine Corps and served in multiple arenas, including the The Cuban Missile Crisis and VietNam as a Field Radio Operator. After his honorable discharge, he joined the United States Navy for additional service to his country and served as a Plane Captain on a P-3 Orion at Moffett Field,California. At the end of his enlistment he returned to Dayton where he was the Founder and Charter Post Commander of VFW Post #5018, Dayton, Ohio. He held several jobs before finding his passion motorcycles. He opened his own motorcycle shop "Flattrackers Cycle Shop" and built racing engines while sponsoring his sons' (Bobby) motorcycle racing career. After Bobby's accidental passing, Bob continued "serving" by becoming a teacher and mentor for the most "at risk" troubled youth in Dayton Public Schools. Being a troubled youth himself he could relate and not only taught his students a trade, Small Engine Repair, but shared his life experience wisdom and philosophies. In 1987 Bob married Vickey, the love of his life and they merged their two families, including Norman Forsee, Craig Smith and Kandi Smith. After a heart attack forced his retirement in 1992, Bob kept busy with "Bob's Business", a customized Military Tee-Shirt business, traveling throughout the state of Ohio attending Veteran's Reunions. Always being a "motor head" Bob enjoyed all forms of racing and anything to do with cars. He could often be found at a car show with his brother Ron and Ron's 1965, Oldsmobile 442. In 2009 Bob, Vickey & Kandi relocated to Edgewater, FL. and encouraged their best friends Chris & Susan Haywood to do the same. He quickly acquired many dear friends and neighbors in his Edgewater Landing Community. Bob could be seen daily sitting in the garage holding "court" and conversing with all who passed by. He enjoyed memberships in VFW, Americal Legion, AMVETS, Howard County Vietnam Vets, Ohio Education Association, Kentucky Colonels and Marine Corps League. Bob was preceded in death by his mother Norma and son Robert Eugene Forsee II. Survivors include brothers Ron & Beverly Forsee, Dayton, Ohio Dan & Saundra Forsee, Symrna, Delaware, Mother & Father In-Law, Don & Donna Richards, Daytona Beach, Florida, Grandchildren, Nieces, Nephews, Sister and Brothers In Law and was PaPaw to Ashley Smith. A memorial service will be held Saturday, Feb. 7th at Veterans Memorial Park/Edgewater (Riverside Dr.) at 11:00 a.m. On line condolences may be made atwww.BaldwinCremation.com and donations may be made to American Legion Post #285 Honor Guard at 4497 South U.S. 1, Edgewater, Florida 32141.
