Obituary
Robert (Bob) Freeman of The Villages, Florida went to His eternal home March 6, 2019 at Leesburg Regional Hospital. Bob was born September 21, 1930 in Clinton, Iowa to William and Margaret Freeman. He worked with his father and mother on their farm outside of Mt. Carroll, IL. He joined the US Navy Air Group during the Korean war. He graduated from Millwaukee School of Engineering with a BS in Electrical Engineering.
Bob worked for Commonwealth Edison in Rockford, IL for 32 years. After retiring he did consulting work and started his own business selling standby electrical generators. Bob and his wife Dianne, moved to The Villages in 2000.
He was preceded in death by his mother and father, brother and sister-in-law Donald and Marilyn Freeman. He is survived by his loving wife of 32 years, Dianne, son Alan (Mallika) Freeman of St. Charles, MO, daughter Lisa Freeman of Kansas City MO, stepson Daniel Montelebre, Belvidere, IL and stepdaughter Deborah (Thomas) Marinelli of Simpsonville, SC, and six grandchildren: Emma and Rachel Freeman, Erik Montelebre, Brandon, Darby and Nicholas Marinelli, several nieces and a nephew.
Bob had many passions besides his family and church. He raced midget race cars. He was an assistant Boy Scout leader for many years, he, together with Len Hathaway, put on over 100 presentations on the dangers of lightning to The Villages groups and clubs and he loved talking about his days on the farm.
He was a charter member of New Covenant United Methodist Church, where there will be a Celebration of Life Service March 25, 2019 at 10:00 AM.
In lieu of flowers the family asks donations be made in his memory to help fund a Hearing Loop for the worship center at New Covenant United Methodist Church, 3470 Woodridge Dr., The Villages, FL 32162.
