Obituary

Robert “Bob” Joseph Guindon
September 4, 1943 – October 26, 2023

Robert “Bob” Joseph Guindon, 80 years old, passed away peacefully in his home surrounded by loved ones on October 26th, 2023. Bob was born September 4th, 1943 in Brookline, Massachusetts to Henry and Mary Guindon. He met his beloved wife Patricia “Pattie” Guindon (nee Dorsey) at the young age of 13 and they’ve been married for the past 60 years. Bob and Pattie were married October 5th, 1963, raised two wonderful boys in Christopher and Craig along with seven golden retrievers (‘hairy kids”).

Bob had bold and successful careers which included professional baseball, business and hospitality. His baseball career began as one of the bonus baby players signed to the Red Sox out of high school at age 17, known then as “Bobby Guindon”. His baseball career took him and his young wife, along with their sons Christopher and Craig throughout the United States. In the offseason, Bob worked with State Street Bank and Trust in Boston. After retiring from baseball, his experience in banking lead him to his next adventure with Wang Laboratories in Massachusetts where he was instrumental in the impressive growth of a new industry. After 15 years at Wang Bob and Pattie together owned and operated The Inn at Thorn Hill in Jackson, New Hampshire where Bob could be found in the evenings in the Pub entertaining his guests. After a 5 year career as Inn Keepers they moved to Salt Lake City, Utah where Bob took a leadership position with Covey Leadership and later retired as C.O.O.

Bob and Pattie spent their early retirement on Seabrook Island, South Carolina, and later settled into their longest stay in one home where he enjoyed the sunshine and friends in Venice, Florida. Bob was known to play an adventurous game of golf always asking for more handicap strokes, mulligans and bragging about his winnings. Bob was a loving and supportive husband, tremendous and supportive father, larger than life and humorous grandfather, and a magnificent leader who helped others become the best versions of themselves.

Bob is survived by his wife Pattie, son Craig and his wife Lisa Guindon, grandchildren Krystyn Bailey, Kathryn Perschon and her husband Braden, Cole Guindon, Nathan Guindon, and Eliana Guindon, great grandchildren Alex Bailey and Carver Perschon, sister-in-law Sue Guindon, daughter in-law Joyce Maples and many adored extended family members and friends. He is preceded in death by his parents Henry and Mary Guindon, sister Marie Greim, brother Jack Guindon, and his son Christopher Guindon.

Family and Friends are invited to a funeral service on Friday November 10th, 2023 at 11:30AM at Our Lady of Lourdes located on 1301 Center Rd. Venice, FL 34292  A reception and celebration of Bob’s life will immediately follow.
