Obituary

Robert (Bob) Iaconis passed away peacefully on Thursday, May 30, 2024, in Fort Myers, FL at the age of 84. He was born on April 5, 1940 in New York City, NY to Theresa Tarasco Iaconis and Salvatore Iaconis. In his early years he was very skilled in Automotive Mechanics and Welding. Bob served four years in the US Navy as a Shipfitter, on the USS Bristol, a Destroyer Ship. Later, the job he was most proud of, was with Global Marine, as Chief Engineer, where he was responsible for much of the ships diesel and electronic equipment. On September 13, 1993, he married Lora Hoover Nabb, high up in a hot air balloon over New Hampshire and this became the start of their many travelling adventures and journeys together.

His lifetime joy was surely boating! Many boating trips included lots of sightseeing and fishing adventures. Eventually, their travels brought them to Fort Myers, where they built a home and became part of the wonderful Cypress Woods Community. There, Bob spent many fun days playing poker and singing karaoke with his many friends.

Bob is survived by his daughter, Kathy (Michael) Rauderbaugh of Stroudsburg, PA; son, Richard L. (Michelle) Iaconis of Cape May Courthouse, NJ; Lora’s children, Kimberly and Scott Nabb; sister, Dorothy Mikelson of Rapid City, SD; brother, Ronald (Pamela) Iaconis of Colorado, Springs, CO; 10 Grandchildren, 12 Great Grandchildren, and missed dearly by his devoted fur baby, Chester. He was preceded in death by his parents, Theresa and Salvatore Iaconis; sister, Arlene Garvin of Boyton Beach, FL; brother, Salvatore Iaconis of Ormond Beach, FL; and his son, Robert Iaconis Jr., of Dennis Township.

In his last months, Robert received exceptional care and comfort from his family and the wonderful caring staff members at Gulf Coast Medical Center, Gulf Coast Rehab Center, Hope Healthcare, Amedisys Home Health, and Tice Fire Department and Ambulance Services. The family is so grateful to each and everyone that cared so well for Bob.

A memorial service is scheduled for Friday, September 6, 2024 at 11:00am, complete with Military Honors, and followed by burial, at Sarasota National Cemetery, 9810 State Road 72, Sarasota, FL. In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to Hope Hospice or a charity of your choice. For online condolences, arrangements have been completed with Baldwin Brothers Funeral & Cremation Society.
