Obituary
Robert J. Kent passed away peacefully on February 18, 2022, at the age of 95. Mr. Kent was born in Yankton, South Dakota on November 20, 1926. He spent his adult life in Michigan, graduating from Royal Oak High School. In 1944, at the age of seventeen, he enlisted in the US Navy. He served aboard the USS Cogswell, a destroyer, receiving two battle stars during World War II.
He attended Michigan State University, where he was a member of the Delta Chi Fraternity. He also attended the University of Detroit School of Commerce and Finance. Robert was employed by the Ford Motor Company for 40 years and retired as a Purchasing Agent in December 1987. He moved to Ocala, Florida where he was a member of the Golden Hills Golf and Turf Club. He and his family also enjoyed spending time at Lost Lake Woods Club in Lincoln, Michigan.
Robert was preceded in death by his first wife Barbara G. Kent, his second wife, Shirley M. Kent, and one son, William R. Kent.
He is survived by his wife, Patricia A. Kent, he is the beloved father of John D. (Ronda) Kent and Merrie Beth Pickle and has six grandchildren and five great grandchildren.
Funeral Services will be held on Sunday, March 6, 2022, at 2:00 pm at the First United Methodist Church 1126 E. Silver Springs Blvd, Ocala, FL 34470 with a visitation one hour prior.
Robert will be laid to rest at Florida National Cemetery with Navy Honors on Monday, March 7, 2022 at 11:30 am.
