OBITUARY

ROBERT LARRY JONES

OCTOBER 3, 1947 to AUGUST 6, 2021

Robert L (Bob) Jones aged 73 passed away on August 6, 2021, in New Smyrna Beach, Florida.

He is survived by his wife, Hannah M Jones, his daughter Pamela Jones Cope (John), his grandsons Nicholas Phillips and Matthew Phillips (Nicole), and his precious great-granddaughter, Peyton Rose Phillips.  He is also survived by two brothers, James Jones, Jr (Sandra) and Gary Jones (Theresa) as well as his sister, Judy Towns (Harvey) and several nieces and a nephew.

He is preceded in death by his son, Robert Kevin Jones; father, James F Jones, mother, Vandetta Godfrey Jones, and sister, Carolyn Jones.

Bob was born October 3, 1947, in Clinton, Tennessee to James & Vandetta Jones.  He graduated from Clinton High School in 1965 and moved to Florida shortly thereafter.  He was drafted into the Army September 28, 1967, and proudly served his country in Vietnam in the Army Artillery.  He was awarded several service medals including the Army Commendation Medal.

Following his military service he returned to work for MAMBA Engineering in Titusville, Florida, as an estimator for powerline construction.  MAMBA Engineering was purchased by The Goldfield Corporation and was renamed Southeast Power Corporation in the early 1970’s.  Bob proved to be an exceptional employee and was frequently promoted.  He was promoted to President of Southeast Power Corporation in 1996 and retired from that position in 2012.

Bob was a great family man and a great friend to many.  He valued his family and he valued his friends as though they were family.  He was quick and ready to volunteer to design and build any project from a complete home to a giant Santa sleigh for charity.  He loved any outdoor activity or project you could propose.  He will be missed more than he could know.

A funeral service for the family is scheduled for Friday, August 27, 2021, at Baldwin Brothers Funeral Home, in New Smyrna Beach.   He will be interned with military honors at 12:30 at Cape Canaveral National Cemetery in Mims, Florida.  Attendance at the cemetery is open to anyone who wants to attend.  A reception at Sugar Mill County Club, New Smyrna Beach, Florida, will follow burial. Donations can be made in honor of Bob Jones to any charity or church of choice.  Flowers can be sent to Baldwin Brothers Funeral Home.

Loved my Uncle Bob...He is missed every day! I thought so much of him, tried to visit as often as I could and wouldn't take anything for the wonderful times that he and I had talking, joking, and being the life of the party! I love you, Uncle Bob and will see you again one day!
