Obituary

BRYAN, ROBERT LEE passed away August 21, 2012 at the age of 60 at home after a courageous five-year battle with prostate cancer. Robert loved hunting and fishing with his sons, helping his daughters decorate their homes, eating his wife’s delicious cooking, and annual family vacations. He was the consummate family man and eternal optimist, beloved by every child he met. Born on November 23, 1951, he graduated from Edgewater High School (1969), attended the United States Air Force Academy for two years, and earned a B.A. from the University of Florida and a M.B.A. from Rollins College. He worked in commercial real estate for more than three decades. In 2005, he fulfilled his longtime dream of starting a construction business. Robert served as president of the Central Florida Fair and the Christian Service Center of Central Florida, as vice president of the Orange County Public Schools Foundation, and on the boards of the University Club of Orlando, Big Brothers / Big Sisters of Central Florida, and Committee of 100 of Central Florida. An Eagle Scout and father of two Eagle Scouts, he served as Assistant Scoutmaster of Boy Scout Troop 200. He also was a lay Eucharistic minister at St. Michael’s Episcopal Church. He was a devoted husband to his wife, Tina Prewitt Bryan, whom he married in 1979. His life revolved around his children Lucy, Lee, Rachael (and her husband Clay Cowherd), and Joseph, to whom he passed on his faith in God, love for adventure, and irrational terror of cockroaches. In addition to his wife and children, Robert is survived by his siblings Paul Bryan, Becky Dreisbach (Michael), and David Bryan (Nancy), many nieces and nephews, and multitudes of friends. Funeral services will be held 2 p.m., Friday August 24, 2012, at St. Michael’s Episcopal Church, 2499 North Westmoreland Drive, Orlando, FL 32804. In lieu of flowers, please make gifts to St. Michael’s Episcopal Church or Boy Scout Troop 200.    Funeral services will be held 2 p.m., Friday August 24, 2012, at St. Michael’s Episcopal Church, 2499 North Westmoreland Drive, Orlando, FL 32804.
