Obituary

Robert Louis Ammidown, 98, of Fort Myers, passed away February 08, 2021, at Gulf Coast Medical Center, in Fort Myers, FL. Born April 04, 1922 in Boston, MA., he was the son of Louis Vinton and Sara Christine Beaton. Robert proudly served his country, as a member of, and officer in, the United States Navy, for over 20 years. He is survived by his loving wife, Lilly Ammidown (nee Yih) of Fort Myers. Additional announcement information is forthcoming from the family. Baldwin Brothers Funeral & Cremation Society, Fort Myers, assisted with arrangements.

    To my beloved father who served honorably as a Lt. Commander in the Navy followed by working in the government in the Office of Economic Opportunity. He had the distinction of being selected by Vice President Hubert Humphrey to go to Watts to resolve the riots there in the 1960's. For this he was personally honored by Humphrey for his success there. In retirement he was constantly engaged in current events well into his late nineties. He is greatly loved and missed.
