Born June 30, 1949 in New Castle PA, the middle son of the late William and Jennie (Marttala) Pekkanen, he lived most of his life in Ohio. In Ohio Bob enjoyed playing golf, supporting his children’s activities, and spending time with family and friends. Bob and Karen moved to The Villages in 2013 where Bob enjoyed bowling, golfing with friends, and especially the many opportunities to play Texas hold’em poker.
Left behind to cherish his memory are his wife Karen (Cooney) Pekkanen, son Douglas (Mindy) Pekkanen of Marietta, GA, daughter Julie (Bradley) Yanko of Chardon, OH and his granddaughters Allison and Kelly Pekkanen and Cecelia and Sofia Yanko. The world has lost a great man. Bob was so caring and kind, always thinking of how he could help you. He will always be remembered for his delicious pies. Rest In Peace my my dear friend.

Bob was one of my closest friends and fraternity brother. We both worked at Packard Electric over the summers while we were at Case and then for 10 years before I left General Motors. Our families both lived in Cortland OH where Bob and I both were members of the JC's where we spent many long Thursday nights playing poker. My wife Janet and I also played bridge regularly with Bob & Karen. We were on the same golf and softball teams and played a lot of basketball together. Our families went on vacations together and on several cruises with fraternity brothers and their wives. After also moving to St. Petersburg, FL we were able to visit together in both the Villages and in St. Pete. Bob was a wonderful and caring husband, father and friend and he will be missed. Phi Alpha, David Christein
