Obituary

Robert Reynolds passed away on December 2, 2022, at the age of 102 at the Halifax Health Hospice in Port Orange, FL.

Robert (Bob) was born in Seattle, WA, and grew up on a lovely farm in Altoona, Iowa, being raised by his beloved Grandmother. After graduating from Bondurant High School, he worked for Lockheed Aircraft in Los Angeles for two years and was then drafted in 1944 into the Navy. Bob served during WWII and was stationed at Pearl Harbor.

Upon his discharge, Bob married his sweetheart, Ruth Palmer, in the Little Brown Church in the Vale at Nashua, IA, on May 18, 1946, which still stands today. Bob and Ruth lived and raised their two children, Don, and Lavonne, in Iowa and then moved in 1970 outside Glendive, Montana, to manage the Reynolds Ranch, where they raised cattle and grew wheat. Then retired in 1985 and moved from the ranch to town on a small acreage in 1996.

Bob and Ruth began visiting the Daytona Beach area in 1988 as snowbirds from their home in Glendive. Ruth’s two sisters had moved from Iowa to the Daytona Beach and Ormond Beach communities earlier. Bob and Ruth purchased their River House condo in Daytona Beach in 2007 and became full-time Florida residents in 2011. After the passing of his wife, Bob bought a second home in Palm Coast and lived there independently until his recent illness in November 2022.

Bob enjoyed working on and restoring classic cars, spending time with family, friends, traveling, and playing cards. He was known for his quick wit, sense of humor, and his ability to put a smile on anyone’s face. The family will never forget Bob’s jokes, playing Santa at Christmas, tractor rides, and herding cows with the pickup trucks.

Robert was preceded in death by his wife, Ruth, in 2015, parents James and Maude Reynolds, Grandmother Clara Poland, and granddaughter Pamela Reynolds.

Robert is survived by his son, Don Reynolds, and wife, Sharon; his daughter, Lavonne Reynolds, and husband, Kurt Anderson; and his four grandchildren Joanie Reynolds of Bremerton, WA, Chris Reynolds of Newcastle, Australia, Kevin Kraft of Denver, CO, and Corey Kraft of Erie, CO; as well as two great-grandsons: Joseph Donald Reynolds and Camden Robert Kraft.

Funeral services will be held at the Chapel at Halifax Health Hospice in Port Orange, FL, 3800 Woodbriar Trail, Port Orange, FL 32129, on January 21, 2023 at 1:30 pm. In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to Halifax Hospice of Volusia/Flagler.
