Obituary

Robert “Bob” C. Rider, 87 of Cape Coral, passed away on October 26, 2018.  Bob was born on July 9, 1931 in Lansing, MI to his mother Myrtle and father Carl S. Rider. He graduated from Lansing Sexton High School and attended Michigan State University. Bob moved to Cape Coral in 1971 where he was owner of Southern Glass and Screen and R.C. Rider Inc. in Cape Coral for the past 47 years. He worked every day in his business up until 6 months ago. Bob served in the US Army during the Korean War and the National Guard, stationed in Ft. Benning, Georgia.

He is survived by his children, Robert C. (wife, Donna) Rider Jr. of Ft. Myers, FL,  Roxann S. Wilkison (significant other, Dwight Kittinger) of Murphy, NC, Charles R. Rider of Ft. Myers, FL and Ronald C. (wife, Jan) Rider of Cheyenne, WY, his  grandchildren, Jason Wilkison, Mandy Rider, Aaron Wilkison, Kristin Rider Portillo, Samantha  Rider, Meghan Guerrie, Amiee Wilkison Soerens, Brand Rider-Dolorfino, Cecilia Hendrix, Lindsey Rider, Vera Rider, Eugene Rider and Austin Rider.   12 great grandchildren and his sister,  Margaret Deason of Ft. Myers, Fl.  Robert was predeceased by his Wife, Beverly M. Rider and granddaughter, Cassie Marie Rider of Cape Coral.

A Memorial Service will be held on Saturday November 10 at 10:00 AM in the Community room of Hope Hospice, 9470 Healthpark Circle, Ft. Myers, FL 33908. A burial at the National cemetery in Sarasota will take place at a later date.

    Bob was a good man. He helped me out on many occasions. He was dependable and more importantly, he was a gentleman. It is
    sad to see how many people can talk and act hateful these days.
    But, Bob, was always upbeat and appreciative and ready to assist in any way he could with a cheery disposition. He made me feel good when I spoke with him. It was always like things will be ok;
    they will get better. I will miss him.
