Obituary
Robert “Bob” J. Shingle was a vibrant and caring father, grandfather, brother, uncle, and friend. He left this world suddenly on December 19, 2021, at age 78. He was preceded in death by longtime companion and friend, Sally Bernardine.
Born in Pottstown, PA on June 9, 1943, Bob was the son of the late Arthur and Hazel (Frybarger) Shingle. He attended Downingtown High School.
Bob began his longtime career as a hair stylist in the early 1960s. In 1966, he opened Bob’s Barber Shop, now known as Robert Michael’s Salon, and served the Malvern community for over 50 years. In the later part of his career, his beloved golden retriever Norman would keep him company during the workday. After retiring, Bob moved to the Villages in Florida. An avid golfer and billiards aficionado, Bob enjoyed sharing his hobbies with friends and family. Armed with an infectious laugh, Bob brought joy to every room he entered.
Bob is survived by his children Brian (Jean) Shingle of Coatesville, PA, Jeffery Shingle of Bronx, NY, Lesley (John) Rowland of Malvern, PA; grandchildren Erik Shingle and Emily Shingle; brother Larry (Carolyn) Shingle; former spouse Eileen Proietto, and several nieces. He was preceded in death by his sister Janice Muller.
Relatives and friends are invited to attend Bob’s celebration of life on January 5, 2022, from 5:30-8pm at Great American Pub, 516 E King Rd, Paoli, PA 19301.
In lieu of flowers, contributions may be made to Cure Alzheimer’s Fund on his behalf.
