Robert Matthew Thomson, 70, passed away on June 14, 2022 at Halifax Health Hospice in Edgewater, FL, after a brief illness. Bob is survived by his wife Faye, his daughter Jill (Tim) DeLong and grandson Callum of St Cloud, MN, his son Parr (Cecilia) Thomson of Nashville, TN, sisters Mary Jane Thomson Swarts and Patricia Bea (Thomson) Tersteeg, and many loving nieces, nephews and extended family. He is preceded in death by his parents, Harold and Dorothy (Miller) Thomson and nephew Robert Tersteeg. Bob was born in Minneapolis and moved to International Falls at an early age. Bob had a successful career in highway/heavy construction and was a Registered Professional Engineer in Minnesota, Wisconsin, Illinois and Florida.
In his free time Bob enjoyed boat rides, working on projects at the beloved Green Cabin in Northeast Bay on Rainy Lake, teaching the kids how to operate a boat and motor or lawn mower or snow blower, helping at the soccer field or hockey rink, and vacationing in Mexico and the Caribbean with Faye and the kids in the winter.
Bob and Faye relocated to Dunedin, FL in 2004 after one last cold winter in Rogers, MN. In 2019 they moved to a condo on the beach in Ponce Inlet where Bob enjoyed morning swims in the ocean, going to classic car shows to see if anybody had a ‘69 GTX, and stopping for a burger, a cold beer and some live music.
Bob will be missed by his many friends and family alike. A celebration of life lunch will take place on Saturday September 17, 2022 from 1:00 – 4:00 P.M. at the Ranier Community Building, 2099 Spruce Street, Ranier, MN 56668.

I was so sad to read of Bob's passing. I considered him a good friend from our past and always enjoyed our talks. He loved his family without a doubt. He was a good person.
