Robert W. Lincoln of Springdale died September 13, 2015 after a 9 month fight against pancreatic cancer. He was raised in Hingham, MA and graduated from Norwich University in Vermont. He was commissioned in the U.S. Army and spent one year in Viet Nam. He was head football coach at Loyola College in Montreal for several years before returning to New England with a career in electronic purchasing for several companies, retiring from Benchmark Electronics in 2007. His real passion was his volunteer work in Londonderry, NH. He spent 22 years on the school board and spent vacation time every year improving and expanding the school system athletic fields, completing his last project 2 months before his death. He was also a walking commercial for the Villages when visiting friends and family in New Hampshire.
He is survived by his wife, Betsy; four children: Cindi (Rick) Fisher, Peter (Shelly) Lincoln, Susan Stottlar, and Stephen (Joanne) Stottlar; four siblings: Donald Lincoln, Wendell (Joan Dalton) Lincoln, Shirley (Robert) Lang, and Alan (Rhonda) Lincoln; 8 grandchildren, 2 great grandchildren, many nieces and nephews, and his Amory Avenue family.
A celebration of his life will be held on Saturday, September 19th, at 10:30 am, at the New Covenant United Methodist Church 3470 Woodridge Drive, The Villages, FL 32162. In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to the Care Ministries of New Covenant United Methodist Church at the above address.
