Robert Walter Milam
February 29, 1968 – February 27, 2023

Robert Walter Milam, age 54, passed peacefully at home on Monday, February 27, 2023, under the care of Hospice with an extended battle of metastatic breast cancer in the bone. A memorial service will be held on Saturday, March 18th at 2pm at Lady Lake UMC in Lady Lake, FL. The family will receive friends also on Saturday from 12:30pm to the hour of service in the Fellowship Hall.

Mr. Milam was a native of Georgia and was reared in Smyrna in Cobb County where he graduated from Campbell High School. He also attended Kennesaw State University and Mercer University, both in Georgia. Mr. Milam was an accomplished pianist and organist and began playing in his home church at age 14. He had a successful career in Music Ministry in both Georgia and Florida. His career highlights include many years as organist with the Georgia Baptist Convention’s “Sons of Jubal”; served as Minister of Music in several churches conducting choirs, handbells and orchestra; led youth and adults on music/mission trips all over the world spreading the gospel of Jesus Christ; led his choristers to sing at Carnegie Hall and the Kennedy Center. Mr. Milam was an advocate for the less fortunate. He led choir groups to serve on the mission field to feed and provide supplies to the homeless over the southeastern United States. Mr. Milam visited orphanages in Russia, China, Eastern Europe and Italy with his fellow choir members and colleagues to share supplies and the love of Jesus. He loved his family, music, traveling, cooking and gardening.

Mr. Milam is survived by his wife of 25 years, Paula Garrard Milam; his son, Sims Garrard Milam; and his daughter, Elizabeth Suzanne Milam, all of Lady Lake, FL; his siblings, Woodie Milam (Shea) of Austell, GA and Susan Milam of Powder Springs, GA; his sister-in-law, Marlene Garrard Veal of Tennille, GA; his brother-in-law, Biff Garrard (Theresa) of Evans, GA; and nieces and nephews.

Mr. Milam is proceeded in death by his parents, Bob Milam (Linda Sue); his grandparents, Walter Milam (Martha) and Robert Fields (Sue Sims); his in-laws, William “Bubba” Garrard (Betty).
