Obituary

On December 12, 2016,  Roger R. Myers Sr of Grand Island, Florida left this earth and went to fish in heaven with the Lord.   Roger was a veteran of the USAF and a proud patriot in every way.  He was a strong supporter of the second amendment and enjoyed expressing his political views greatly.  He was an avid fisherman and loved time on the lake spent with friends and family and teaching the art of fishing to anyone willing to learn.  He was born in Riverside, West Virginia to Thomas and Angie Myers.  Roger spent his childhood exploring the mountains and hollers with his cousins Douglas,  Richard,  Jeff, David, and Donna McClure. His stories of adventures with them always sparked his devilish grin and a wink.

Roger found  the true love of his life, Debbie Block Myers and they married in 2003. They settled in Grand Island, where Roger lived out his days surrounded by loving friends and family.

He is survived by his wife Debbie, beloved sister  Anna Anderson and husband Jimmy, along with 7 children – Roger Myers Jr of Virginia,  Jeanetta Salyer of Florida,  Anna Greer and Laura Hannsman of Georgia, Matt, David, and Valerie Fryer of Florida, as well 13 grandchildren, his aunt Jean McClure, and a multitude of cousins and nephews, and dear friends Ron and Kelly Linkus and Roy Jones A celebration of Roger’s life as he wished, will be held later in the spring. In lieu of flowers,  please make donations to St. Judes children’s hospital.

Dear Debbie. Our Lord directed forgiveness within Roger's portion of the Myers' family and allowed John and I to meet and become friends with you and Valerie and your boys. When the Lord called Roger Home, He left a large void among your family. Please know that you all are in our thoughts and prayers and that our friendship will carry on. Love you very much. Linda and John Frazier.
