Obituary

  Rolf William Utegaard, 85, of Winter Springs, Florida passed away August 1, 2014 at the Winter Park Memorial Hospital. Rolf was born to the late Thomas and Isabelle Fletcher Utegaard.  Rolf was a Colonel in the U.S. Army serving 3 tours in Vietnam and he also fought in the Korean War.  He was involved in public relations with Seminole County. He also worked with Gulf Oil, Phillips 66 and Enron. He held a Masters Degree from the University of Wisconsin. He is survived by his loving wife Marylyn Jane Bachtle Utegaard, his daughter Lynn Burr and her husband Larry, Son, Scott Utegaard and his wife Michelle, and three grandchildren Isabelle, Makenna, and Karissa. Memorial Services will be held at a later date with an inurnment at Arlington National Cemetery.

    Rolf was a kind and gentle soul. I will always remember him sharing his books with my mother and taking my father to lunch when my dad could no longer drive. He and his precious wife Marylynn raised an amazing daughter, Lynn. We are indebted to soldiers who are willing to risk their lives for love of country. May he Rest In Peace.

    Rolf was an outstanding soldier that we were privileged to have been stationed with many years ago in Germany. Our prayers go out to his family.

    An old friend, we will miss him. Rolf was one of the U.S. army's best soldiers. It has been a privatize to have known and served with him. Our heartfelt sympathy God to Marylyn and his children. We will join him in Arlington.
