Born in Riverside, New Jersey, Ronald Glen Brandolini moved to Vermont as a teenager where he
attended Whitcomb High School in Bethel. Upon graduation in 1966, he started his undergraduate
studies at Castleton State College and later the University of Vermont before completing his
graduate work at Binghamton University. Prior to coming to Valencia in 1976, Ron taught at
Emporia State University (formerly Kansas State Teachers College) and West Virginia State
University.
Ron dedicated his life to helping others realize their dreams through teaching, mentoring, and
encouragement. As an economics professor for more than 20 years, Ron found a way to relate to
students and bring out the best in all those he taught. Through the establishment of the Valencia
College Honors Program, Ron helped provide an exceptional education, scholarships, and other
opportunities to students in the program.
Ron loved life, greeted everyone with a smile and touched the lives of those who knew him. He
enjoyed astronomy, music, fishing and travel and, above all, loved his family more than anything.
He was smart and humble, with a heart of gold.
We hope that you will join us this Wednesday as we remember and honor the life and service of
Ron Brandolini, a man described by President Shugart as a “valiant friend and great educator.”
