Obituary
Ronald P. Carey, 79, a resident of Cape Coral, FL passed away on September 12, 2023, at Lee Memorial Hospital in Fort Myers, FL.
Ronald is survived by his wife, Cynthia (Smedberg) Carey; his children, John (Laurie) Carey, Craig (Jana) Carey; his grandchildren, Kymbre (Chris) Callaway, Colin Carey; great-granddaughter Charlotte Callaway; step-grandchildren, Brian Kurzeja Jr, Killian Kurzeja; sister Augustine (Jim) Keltner and several nieces and nephews.
Ronald was born on March 28, 1944, in Tuckerman, AR and married Cynthia in Rockford, IL on March 4, 1967. He was an active-duty Marine from 1961 to 1967. He was employed by Sundstrand Corporation (now UTC) in Rockford, IL for 35 years before retiring.
Ronald was a devoted husband, father, grandfather, and great-grandfather. He enjoyed building things with his hands and spending quality time with his family. His fondest memories were spent working with the Rockford Phantom Regiment Drum and Bugle Corps for 10 years in the 1980’s while both of his sons participated in the Corps.
A celebration of life will be held in Cape Coral, FL at a future date.
