Obituary

RONALD  JAMES  “Ron”REMBIS, 84, passed peacefully surrounded by is loving family on December 20, 2019.  He was born June 15, 1935 in Methuen, Massachusetts, the son of Joseph Rembis and Phyllis Salach.

Ron grew up in MA with his family and sister, Ellie whom he adored.  He loved playing baseball as a young boy and had a passion for aviation and music.  He married his childhood sweetheart, Dottie Rembis , in April 1956.  They had three adoring daughters and five grandchildren.  He was a devoted husband, brother, father and grandfather.   A lifetime of wonderful family memories was created during their 63 year marriage.

Ron was a Navy veteran serving during the Korean Conflict.  He also attended the Naval School of Music as well as the Cambridge School of Radio & TV Broadcasting.

Ron’s love of music included playing saxophone in his own band.  And his love of aviation had him pursue his pilot’s license.  As a member of the Academy of Model Aeronautics he was also an accomplished pilot flying model jets most of his life.

Ron moved his family from MA to Florida in 1967 eventually settling in Port Orange for the past 47 years.  His life profession was working in the radio and television broadcasting industry.  From producer of many programs with national TV coverage, on-air radio talent with his own shows, to owner of his own radio and tv production company.  His voice on air was unmistakable.  Ron worked mainly in the Miami, Tampa/St. Pete, Daytona markets broadcasting news, sports, weather and special events when he wasn’t behind the scenes as producer.    His profession enabled him to interview and work with such names as senator John F. Kennedy, Ed McMahon of the Johnny Carson show, musicians Michael Jackson and David Cassidy to name a few.   He was also a talented photographer and artist.   Ron mostly loved time with his family, tinkering in his garage with every tool imaginable, building large scale jets, boating and anything to do with motorcycles, cars and football.

Ron and his family attended Epiphany Catholic Church. He is survived by his sister, Eleanor Eberhardt of New Hampshire, daughters, Karen (Scott) McGregor of Winter Garden, FL, Cindy Rembis of Ormond By The Sea, FL,  Kimberly (Tim) Adair, Port Orange, FL, and grandchildren, Kristin Grass, Shannon McGregor, Blake Grass, Brooke McGregor, and Cameryn McGregor.  His adored wife, Dottie Rembis passed six months earlier.

Ron’s gentle nature, endless creativity and love of family will be missed beyond measure.   A private memorial service with military honors will be held for family at Cape Canaveral National Cemetery in Mims, FL on January 21st at 10:30am.
