Obituary

Ronald “Ron” Eugene Charity, 81, of Cape Coral, Florida went to his heavenly home on April 20, 2023, at 9:55 A.M.

Ron was born to Raymond and Virginia Charity of Milan, Ohio on September 28, 1941, in Sandusky, Ohio. He had one sibling, his younger brother, Robert (Bob) Charity.

Ron was a gifted athlete and lettered in football, basketball, and baseball while attending Milan High School. He graduated from Milan High School in 1959, then went on to serve our country and enlisted in the US Navy that same year, where he was trained as a quartermaster.

While stationed in New York City, he met the love of his life, Joann Charity in 1961. They married on September 1, 1962. After his service in the Navy, Ron and Joann moved to Norwalk, Ohio shortly after getting married.

Ron and Joann went on to have 4 children, Christine, Ronald, Brian, and Wendy. Ron was a loving father, who enjoyed spending time with his children and he coached baseball for many years in the Lefty Grove Little League in Norwalk.

While in Ohio, Ron worked a few different types of jobs until he fell into his niche in the wholesale plumbing business, where he excelled. For most of his career, he was the top salesman for the different companies he worked for.

In 1981, they moved their family from Norwalk, Ohio, to Fort Myers, Florida, where he continued his success in the wholesale plumbing business. After a couple of years in Fort Myers, they moved to Cape Coral, Florida, where he lived the rest of his life.

When not working, he loved the church and his bible studies. Ron loved people, and his joyful, infectious personality led him to serve as a greeter at Grace Church in Cape Coral. There, he spread his love for Jesus with many people each week. Ron was a loyal servant of God for over 50 years. He loved his Lord and Savior, Jesus Christ, and it showed in the way he lived his life and the countless lives he touched.

He enjoyed playing golf, traveling, and watching his Cleveland Browns, Indians, Cavaliers, and Florida Gators.

Ron was reunited with his parents, Ray and Virginia, in heaven. He is survived by his loving wife, Joann Charity, and their 4 children, Christine (Scott) Hamlin, Ronald (Kimberly) Charity, Brian (Holly) Charity, and Wendy Charity.  He is also survived by his beloved brother, Robert (Carol) Charity and their children Kathy, Cindy, Vicky, and Becky.

He was blessed with 11 grandchildren and 8 great-grandchildren.

A Memorial Service will take place at Grace Church 13 SE 21st Place, Cape Coral, Florida 33990 on April 29, 2023, at 11:00 A.M.

April 20th 2023 was the hardest day of my life. I always prayed that God would take me first so I didn’t have to go through the pain of losing you. I know that was selfish. You are my hero everything about you I love. I loved when you tracked me everywhere I went that phone call saying I see your at Publix. You are my best friend and I miss you so much. My life will never be the same. I think about you every minute of every day. You are the most amazing dad, husband, grandpa that anyone could ask for. Your faith was so strong. You prayed at every meal it was so beautiful. Your laugh, smile was so contagious. You was such a joker. I love you more than life itself. I know you are with Jesus now and I will see you again until then you will always be with me. Love you Dad

12 years ago - Mr. Charity came to my house on a request of his daughter Wendy. I was a stranger, a single mom who just bought my first house a few doors down and had a plumbing issue. Without hesitation, and with a smile he fixed the issue and saved my frazzled mind. Later- he welcomed me like family to sit with them at church. Every time I saw him after, he always had a big smile and a friendly hello. I cannot explain how lucky I was to know Mr. Charity. I was treated like family from the first meeting. I will never forget his kindness. Heaven has truly gained an angel. My thoughts and prayers to his family.

I never thought I would be writing this but on April 20th you went to be with the Lord. There has not been a minute since you left that I don't think about you and just how amazing of a Dad you were to all of us. You were my best friend and I will miss you terribly. I will miss the daily phone conversations and our trips to the mountains. I loved being with you. My heart is heavy and I'm struggling with the realization that you won't be around any longer. I have to rely on our faith in God that we will see each other again in Heaven. They say time does have a way of healing which is hard to comprehend at this time and I hope it's true. I will alway's have our memories! I will never stop loving you. I Love You Dad.
