Obituary

Rosetta (Rosa) Martin, 98, was called home by God on January 16, 2025, after a short illness. Rosa was born on July 17, 1926, in Naples Italy to Alfred and Assunta Cardone Della Monica. She met her soon-to-be husband, Robert Peter Martin during WWII, where he served in the Navy as a cook. Their love grew as her future husband came to visit her home where she and her father taught him the Italian language. They were married on April 30th, 1946, in Italy, where their first daughter Mary Christine was born. After moving to the US, Coventry, Rhode Island, they raised 3 more children.

Rosa was pre-diseased by her daughter Diana M. Hull.

She is survived by her daughter Mary Christine Stalaboin, her son Reverand Lou Martin, her daughter Lisa Marie Nason, her son-in-laws, Joseph Stalaboin II, Edward Hull and Steve Nason, her grandchildren, Joseph Stalaboin III, April LaFleur and Branden Houlker.

Rosa was a homemaker and an excellent cook. She enjoyed sewing, swimming, exercising and playing games. Rosa will be remembered for her competitiveness, strong will and unwavering determination.
Rosa loved her Lord and Savior, right up until her last breath. How beautiful is Rosa’s mother’s name Assunta, meaning “assumed into heaven,” where she now will live for eternity.

A private celebration of life will be held in Rhode Island in June.

In lieu of flowers please send donations to The Tidewell Hospice House, 1144 Veronica Street, Port Charlotte, FL 33952, where Rosa received overwhelming loving care.
