Obituary

Rosalie Jean “Rosie” Canty, passed from this life on November 15, 2016 after a valiant battle
with cancer. She was born on May 9, 1955 in Salem, Oregon, the daughter of Maurice and
Eloise Bender.
Rosie’s smile would brighten anyone’s day and she was considered “mom” to so many – her
own sons, Ren, Trent (who preceded her in death), and Shane Bigelow; her grandchildren
Isabell, Nicole, Erik, Evelyn, Brooklyn, and Jaclyn; and countless “unofficial” children. Additional
“children” include patients who Rosie worked with as a pediatric nurse at Arnold Palmer Hospital
for Children, women who were under Rosie’s care as teenagers when she worked as
housemother at Orlando House of Hope, and many others who, as friends, looked to Rosie for
nurturing and support. She seemed to have boundless energy and love for everyone who came
into her life.
She is survived by her husband, Frank Canty, mother and father Eloise and Maurice Bender,
sister Pam Wenger, brother Nathan Bender, sons Ren and Shane, 6 biological grandchildren,
three stepsons and 7 step-grandchildren along with a number of nieces and nephews.
She lived life trusting in the Lord who instilled her with joy, fearlessness and unconditional love
for others. She will be greatly missed by all whose lives she touched.
A Celebration of Life service will be held at 7 p.m. on Tuesday, November 22, at Discovery
Church Central, 4400 S. Orange Avenue, Orlando FL. In lieu of flowers, contributions may be
made to the Orlando House of Hope, PO Box 560484, Orlando, FL 32856.

Rosie made a tremendous impact on my family and especially on my daughter, one of those who called her "mom". Her warm smile, calm spirit and genuine concern and compassion leaves a void in many lives, including ours. I thank God for the gift of her friendship through the years and look forward to seeing her again in heaven.

I have wonderful memories growing up with Rosie and Pam on Detroit St. it was so exciting when we connected after all these years on Facebook. A few years ago my sister and I was able to visit with Rosie, frank and her sweet parents. This was such a thrill for us. I am so grateful For this time. WE talked about wonderful childhood memories. The Bender family are an amazing family. I am a life they touched with the love of Christ. Love you sweet friend..
