Obituary
Rosanne (Mickey) Marjorie Broadhurst, 82, died peacefully of natural causes on November 21st, 2024, at her home in Port Orange, Florida.
Rosanne is survived by her two sons, Jayme Broadhurst and Chris Huxley; her grandchildren, Lauren Huxley and Hoyt Huxley; her brother, Thomas Coyne; and sister, Patricia Coyne.
Rosanne was born on June 28th, 1942 in Brooklyn, New York to parents, Thomas Coyne and Rosanne Stenzi. She graduated from the University of San Diego with degrees in Music, Philosophy and Teaching. After college, she moved to Bishop, California and accepted a position as a teacher at Bishop Elementary, where she met her late first husband, Harold Huxley. While living in the Sierras, she enjoyed riding her horses and skiing the slopes of Mammoth Mountain.
Rosanne enjoyed beach days, running and playing tennis. Her passion was music. She loved to listen to classical music. Rosanne played the guitar and piano with pure elegance.
Years later, Rosanne married the late Donald G. Broadhurst. After spending some time in Germany, they moved to Port Orange, Florida.
Rosanne continued teaching sixth grade and eventually retired at Silver Sands Middle School after an impressive 40-year teaching career.
Her last 26 years were spent married to Frederick Honadle, where they enjoyed many days out on the boat, vacationing around Florida, and trips to visit family in San Diego.
Rosanne will be remembered as “Mrs. Broadhurst”, a sixth teacher to her many students and colleagues over her long career of shaping our young minds for the future.
