Obituary
Roy Eugene Howard,76, of Fort Myers, FL, passed away Saturday, September 30, 2023. He was born September 7, 1947, to Abner and Roberta (née Stroud), Howard, Jr.
He worked as a plumber and pipefitter in his early career and then transitioned to working as a heating, ventilation and air conditioning technician. He taught plumbing and pipefitting at the Local 29 in Fort Smith, Arkansas. He retired, moved to Florida with his family and then spent his time fishing, collecting guns, playing guitar and taking his granddaughters to after school activities. He taught Life Groups for youth and young single adults at Grand Avenue Baptist Church in Fort Smith, Arkansas; he enjoyed watching his students grow, follow Jesus and build their own families. He sang in the church choir and loved his dogs. In the last few years, he learned to love cats and adopted two who didn’t have homes. His most prized activities included any time he could spend with his wife, daughter, son-in-law and granddaughters.
Roy is survived by his wife, Sherry Jo Howard who he met in high school and married July 13, 1968. He is survived by his daughter, Dr. Stephanie Stovall, son-in-law, Dr. David Stovall, and granddaughters, Erin Stovall and Emma Stovall.
He is preceded in death by his family by his beloved Father-in-law, Frank Kline, his Mother-in-law, Bettye Kline and his Brother-in-law, Roy Kline. He credited his married family as a cherished treasure.
