Obituary
Ruby Clark, 87, of Orlando, FL, passed away on November 7, 2018. Ruby was born in Grassy Cove, Tennessee, but later lived in Nashville, Savannah, Tampa, and finally settled in Orlando in 1963. Born to Vada and Austin Bristow, she was one of eight children, and is survived by her brother Mose Bristow of Grassy Cove, Tennessee. Ruby married Charles E. Clark of Lakeland, FL in 1956 and had three children; Cynthia (deceased), Melinda, and Doug. Ruby was active in her church, the First United Methodist Church of Orlando, having served on many committees and in Women’s Circle groups. She was also the president of the PTA at Blankner Elementary School, and was president of the American Field Service (AFS) international student exchange program at Boone High School. She also volunteered her time at the Orlando Day Nursery, as well as at other civic and humanitarian groups in Orlando. Ruby worked professionally as a secretary in Nashville, and later in Orlando worked as the Community Services Outreach Assistant for the Orange County Public Schools Additions Office. She also worked in an administrative support position at the Church Street Counseling Center. Ruby is predeceased by her brother John, sisters Helen, Gladys, Wilma Jean, Evelyn, Polly, her husband Charles, and her daughter Cynthia. Ruby is survived by her daughter Melinda Clark and her son Doug Clark, both of Orlando. Interment will be at her family cemetery in Grassy Cove, Tennessee at a time yet to be determined. In lieu of flowers, donations to the Orlando Day Nursery, the Alzheimer’s Association, the Alzheimer’s & Dementia Resource Center, and to Cornerstone Hospice would be appreciated.
