Obituary
Ruby Cohen born Ruby Clara Cunningham was born on 1st May, 1932 to Samuel and Elaine Cunningham in the town of Layou, St Vincent. Mom attended school at the Layou Government School and after completing school moved to Barrouallie, St Vincent with her mother. In Barrouallie, Ruby married Robert Oswald Slater and from this union they had ten children; Daune, Gene, Keith, Harry, Margaret, Margo, Faye, Ralph, James and Lillian all now residing in the USA, except for Margo who preceded her in death in 1979.
In 1973, Ruby migrated to the USA and lived in Bronx, New York. She work as a cashier at Nedicks restaurant in Manhattan, New York and afterwards as a healthcare giver for the elderly. In 1991, she married Walter Cohen and relocated to Orlando, Florida. Walter preceded Mom in 1999. In 2018 due to failing health, Mom moved to Lehigh Acres, Florida where she lived with our brother James until her passing.
Mother loved dress making and crocheting and she was a great cook. She had a passion for travelling, and especially enjoyed taking cruises with family and friends. She leaves to mourn; Estelle Ware – Sister, Daughters in Law – Deloris, Annie, and Zena. Grand Children- Jaqueline, Harry (jr), Christopher, Johnathan and Mohamed. Great Grand children – Harlan, Ethan, Harry(3rd). A host of relatives and friends.
