Obituary

Rufus Owen Edwards Jr., of Port St. John, died unexpectedly on November 24, 2022.  R.O. was only 83 years old.  The family is deeply saddened and shocked by his sudden death. R.O. was born on December 9, 1938, attended Heath High School in Kentucky, and lived in Port St. John for most of his life.

R.O. was small business owner – he owned and operated R.O.’s Lawn Service in Port St. John and Titusville for over 30 years.  R.O.’s Lawn Service was R.O.’s pride, joy, and life’s work.  R.O. poured his heart and soul into the business, which showed to all customer and patrons of R.O.’s Lawn Service.

In addition to owning R.O.’s Lawn Service, R.O. was a member of Retirees of the Cape.  He spent most of his free time working and spending time with his wife Joanne and his family.

Everyone who knew R.O. knew how hard-working he was.  R.O. was full of love and life, traits that were obvious to all after even after just one meeting with him.  R.O. is survived by his wife, Joanne; children Joni Redwine and spouse Steve Redwine, Bryan Edwards and spouse Torri Edwards, and Shelly Lambert and spouse Anthony Lambert; grandchildren Geoffrey Doyle and spouse Sarah Doyle, Sydney Edwards, Courtney Buchholz and spouse Devin Buchholz, Justin Lambert, Nicholas Edwards, and Heidi Lambert; and an abundance of friends.  We will miss him more than words can say.

There will be a service on December 9, 2022 at 2:00 p.m. at Baldwin Brothers Funeral Home in Titusville.

    R.O. and his grandson mowed our yard when we were out of town. He was always nice to talk to and did a wonderful job on our yard. Very nice man that will be missed!! Prayers for his family!!

    R O was always so cheerful and always had a good word to say. He was kind and thoughtful. He never complained about his health. He is home with the Lord. Prayers for his family. God bless.

    Chuck and I loved RO and remember first time we met at PSJ Baptist church Sunday School class. It was a fun group back then.

    We know what a hard worker he was and how much he loved his family.
    We will miss him. We pray for strength and comfort for you all.

    dad u are my hero! I wouldnt know where i would be if it wasnt for u , u gave me so much & i thank u! Everyone loves u family & friends. U worked so hard for us . You were our provider. protector & rock of this family u will be truly missed. I know i will see you again at the gates of heaven i will bring the beers.     I send my LOVE to the man I thought would always be here. I have always admired this man’s love for his family, hard work ethic and great personality. I send all of my love and respect in this hard time. I am sorry for the loss, and I am sorry I am not there. Love you all, and thank you RO for all of the memories that we have to remember you.

    You will be missed by so many! I am sure there are a few people in PSJ that does not know you or your family. You have impacted and showed kindness to a lot of people . An angel may have been taken off this earth but will remain in the hearts of many. You have definitely shared the love God Intended for all to know! Thank you for being a great man, husband, and father.
