Obituary

Ruth (Rose) Hindelang, age 93, of Fort Myers, Florida, passed away July 25, 2021. Ruth was born in October 1927, in Morgan County, Kentucky. She earned her high school diploma and college credits while actively supporting her three daughters in their endeavors.

She had a successful career as a Real Estate Broker in Lexington as founder/owner of Ruth Miller Gallery of Homes and advocated for professional standards as President of the Lexington Women’s Realtor Association and President of the Lexington Zonta Club. She married her husband, David Hindelang, in 1975 and moved to the Florida Keys where she became a career counselor at Coral Shores High School. Ruth became an avid painter, and artist/teacher of ceramics and pottery. In retirement she also enjoyed traveling aboard and RV camping with her husband throughout the United States.

Ruth is survived by her children Sharon Benner, Brenda Martin (Ronald), and Elizabeth (Beth) Miller; her grandson Andrew Martin (DeAndera) and six great grandchildren; her brother Paul Rose (Annette) and many nieces, nephews, cousins, and extended family. Ruth was preceded in death by her husband William (David) Hindelang, a sister, and six brothers.

A small graveside service will be held for family on October 22, 2021, at 11:30 AM at Blue Grass Memorial Gardens, Nicholasville, Kentucky, 4915 Harrodsburg Road, 40356.

The family would like to express our deepest gratitude to the wonderful caregivers at Joanne’s Hospice House of Lee County. In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made to either to Hospice of Lee County or to Ruth’s favorite animal rescue organization.

Ruth will always have a special place in my heart. She & Bill welcomed me into their home in the Keys and became part of my family. Ruth patiently taught me how to play bridge & showed me the art of making pottery. My black lab would sit by her side for hours while she made her pottery, I’d come home to a white lab and we’d just laugh. She was a kind, generous, and extremely talented person. Whenever I think of Ruth my heart smiles, she will be so missed. My thoughts & prayers are with all she left behind. I’ll miss you my friend. Love, Rosemry

Ruth will be remembered as many things to those who knew her. Her interests, both professional and creative, however, pale in the light of her children's testimony to her achievements as a mother. Her three caring, capable and successful daughters grew up to reflect the values she nurtured in them. Knowing Ruth and her daughters has enriched my life and for that I thank her.
