Obituary

Ruth Williams, daughter of Bertha and Billie Williams, of Louisville, Ky, died June 15 at age 62 at Hope Hospice in Ft. Myers, Florida where she had lived for many years.  She leaves behind a sister, Marsha, and two brothers, Mark and Stuart.  She also leaves many friends, the making of which was one of her great gifts.  She was an athlete from her high school days until she finally left teaching to work for Hertz.  She was a devoted coach from the time she left the University of Kentucky with her Master’s Degree in P.E., golf clubs in hand.  Primarily, she coached tennis and volley ball, but she said she once coached archery with a broken left arm.  She had an infectious smile and was always ready for a new friendship, which made her a valued asset in the airport car rental business.  Passengers who arrived at night were often amazed to be given special treatment when they were tired from traveling.  She especially loved fishing, enjoying herself whether she caught anything or not.  She requested there be no formal service, but donations may be made to Hope Hospice in Fort Myers, Florida.

I don’t know why you came into my thoughts today but I know you must have been thinking of me! Being your work roommate was the best of times at SWFC. You were the most amazing teacher and colleague! Every time I hear the commercial of the Camel with HUMP DAaayyyyy I remember laughing so hard when you would strut up and down the hall saying HUMP DAaayyyy! I am better for knowing you and sure miss out late evening talks! Peace be with you Ruthy

You will be missed, the years of teaching where your wisdom inspired students and staff alike. You were always 100% involved and young people's lives became better because of that. There is no doubt that you are happy in heaven, my dear!!
