Obituary
Ormond Beach, FL – Sadie Woodyard Eaton, former resident of Black Mountain, NC and long-time resident of Ormond Beach, FL, passed away on the 17th of June at Halifax Health Hospice, Ormond Beach, FL.
Born in 1926 in Harlan County, KY, Sadie moved with her family to Giles County, VA where she attended public schools. Sadie, her husband, Beverly T Eaton and children moved to Ormond Beach, FL in 1974. She dedicated her life to her 5 children, emphasizing the importance of education, hard work and strong character. Sadie believed in community service and volunteered for charitable causes her entire life. She volunteered for the American Heart Association, various PTA programs, teacher’s aide at Osceola Elementary School, and band parent at Seabreeze High School.
Sadie was a self-taught woman with skills in sewing, child care and baking. Sewing was her passion whether she was sewing for fun and personal use or for others.
Sadie was preceded in death by her parents, Cora and Harmon Woodyard, her husband, Beverly T. Eaton, 11 siblings, 1 grandchild and 1 great-grandchild. Sadie is survived by 1 sister (Pauline); 5 children (Joseph, Michael, Gary, Lynn, and Christopher); 11 grandchildren (Shea, Jody, Crystal, Elizabeth, Jonathan, Joseph Lee, Brian, Nicholas, Amber, Matthew, and Jenna); and 6 great-grandchildren (Aiden, Cierra, Madison, Mason, Clair and Cooper West).
A celebration of her life will be held at Bailey River Bridge Gardens at 3:00 PM on 15 July 2017. In lieu of flowers, memorial gifts in honor of Sadie W. Eaton may be made to Halifax Health Hospice, 235 Booth Road, Ormond Beach, Florida 32174.
