Obituary

Sallie Phillips                   August 19, 1922 – February 18, 2020

Sallie Phillips went home peacefully to be with the Lord on February 18, 2020.

Helen Mae Sallie Guyol was born in Chicago to parents Cecil and Helen Guyol. She grew up in Chicago and was married to Robert Mikesell in 1943 until his death in 1977. They moved to Winter Park in 1956 where Sallie continued to reside throughout her life. In 1999 she married Ralph Hadley until his death in 2004.  While living at The Mayflower she met and subsequently married Fr Robert Phillips in 2007 where they both enjoyed a number of wonderful years together.

Throughout her years in Winter Park, Sallie was an active member of Winter Park Presbyterian Church serving as a deacon and on-going service to Presbyterian Women (PW). Her strong faith in Jesus Christ as Lord and Savior was an on-going and important part of who she was. She would want to be remembered as someone who loved the Lord and tried to make a positive difference in people’s lives.

She is survived by her husband Fr Robert Phillips. Also, her children, Robert Mikesell in Atlanta, Jill Messervy in Charleston and Phyllis Keith in Tampa as well as their spouses Tom Messervy and Robert Keith. In addition, Nana leaves behind 6 grandchildren who she loved dearly and that love extended to her 8 great grandchildren plus many step-children, step-grands and great grands.

Mom, Nana, Sallie – you were the best. We will miss you so much but we rest in the assurance that you are now joyously with Jesus and we will see you again one day. A celebration of life service will be held on March 5 at 3:30pm at The Mayflower.
