Sally M Byrnes
1959-2021
Sally Marie Byrnes, age 61, The Village of Duval, The Villages, FL, died June 24, 2021,
at her home after a short battle with cancer.
Born November 15, 1959 in Bayshore NY, daughter of Leslie and Norma Brown. She
grew up and lived most of her life on Long Island. She married Robert Byrnes on
January 14, 2006. Later, she moved to The Villages, Florida. Family was always close
to her heart. She never missed an event or accomplishment of one of her children or
grandchildren. She loved being their Mema. While in Florida, she volunteered for
many organizations. She was an integral part of the Honor Flight, where she
accompanied many veterans on over 20 flights to Washington DC. She was involved
with the Giving Dolls and helped create dolls to give to children in need. She also
helped create the Giving Dolls chapter on Long Island. She was an advocate and
Guardian Ad Litem to children in foster care. She also volunteered with the American
Legion Auxiliary Unit #347 to help support those who died in the military. Her love of
dogs led her to form amazing friendships that were such an important piece of Sally’s
life. She enjoyed volunteering and helping whomever she could. Her life was full of
good friends, family and plenty of ice cream.
Preceded in death by her husband Robert Byrnes. Surviving are her children, daughter
Sara Hall and husband Brennan of Mooresville NC; son Daniel Brown and wife Sharon
of Chandler AZ; and 3 grandchildren, Addison Marie, Ryan Dennis, Lily Ann.
There will be a celebration of life on July 6 from 1-3pm at the
Colony Cottage Recreation Center, 510 Colony Blvd, The Villages 32162
She will be buried at Calverton National Cemetery on July 9 at 11:00am, with a
celebration to follow at the Knights of Columbus, 2850 Pond Rd, Ronkonkoma, NY.
In lieu of flowers, please make donations in Sally’s name to Villages Honor Flight, to
help future veterans have the experiences that they deserve.
