Sally Marie Byrnes, age 61, The Village of Duval, The Villages, FL, died June 24, 2021,

at her home after a short battle with cancer.

Born November 15, 1959 in Bayshore NY, daughter of Leslie and Norma Brown. She

grew up and lived most of her life on Long Island. She married Robert Byrnes on

January 14, 2006. Later, she moved to The Villages, Florida. Family was always close

grandchildren. She loved being their Mema. While in Florida, she volunteered for

many organizations. She was an integral part of the Honor Flight, where she

accompanied many veterans on over 20 flights to Washington DC. She was involved

with the Giving Dolls and helped create dolls to give to children in need. She also

helped create the Giving Dolls chapter on Long Island. She was an advocate and

Guardian Ad Litem to children in foster care. She also volunteered with the American

Legion Auxiliary Unit #347 to help support those who died in the military. Her love of

dogs led her to form amazing friendships that were such an important piece of Sally’s

life. She enjoyed volunteering and helping whomever she could. Her life was full of

good friends, family and plenty of ice cream.

Preceded in death by her husband Robert Byrnes. Surviving are her children, daughter

I was looking you up today to say Hi, and I was sad to hear of your passing! You were such a sweet loving and caring person! We had so much fun, going to the drive in, all the time, with the gang, in my fathers VW van! You kept me fed & happy with all those milk shakes! I'm sure your one of God's favorites! Rest in peace my friend.

Our whole family wants to express condolences and tribute to your family and especially to Sally. She and Bob were wonderful neighbors to our parents Bev and Glenn Chapel. Sally was the reason that Glenn was able to go on the first Honor Flight that included the Korean War vets along with our cherished WWII veterans. Over and over Sally took her precious time to volunteer to be a guardian for these heroes. It was truly a highlight in our Dads life and we thank you!! God Bless your family during this sad time, and we rejoice with you in her celebration of life!
    We are all Forever Grateful,
    The Chapel family.

Heartfelt condolences to the Brown clan. I will always remember our childhood fun times during family visits as kids, writing penpal letters as teens, and then wonderful woman she would become. I wish you all peace and joy in your cherished memories of Sally.

Even though we only met briefly in Arizona while Sally was at Dan, Sharon and Ryan’s, we feel like we’ve knew her so well because Amber’s family spoke of her so fondly and frequently! We should all strive to make the world better like she did with her volunteer efforts. Embrace the memories. They will bring you comfort!
