SALATORE J VENTO Born June 20, 1937 Died March 18, 2022
Mother: Josephine Tarantino, born July 27, 1899, died Oct. 1985
Father: Nicola Charles Vento, born November 4, 1891, died Nov. 1967
Born June 20, 1937 at home in South Boston. Seventh child of Josephine and Nicola Vento. His siblings are Joseph, Frank, Anthony, Connie, John and Thomas. He graduated from South Boston HS in 1955, went to barber school in Boston and enjoyed ballroom dancing with his friends.
Sal worked in his father’s barber shop in Andrew Sq. until being drafted in the army in 1960. He served two year with the 356th US Army band at Fort Belvoir, Virginia.
After the army he went to Salem State College to become a business education teacher. Graduated in 1967 and began teaching at North Quincy HS for the next 34 years. In 1971 he became department head of business until retiring in 2001.
In 1974 he met the love of his life, Michael Domina and they were together for thirty years when they married in 2004 (when gay marriage became legal in MA.) They spent 32 in Braintree, MA and moved to Hull, MA which became their summer residence and wintered in Bonita Springs, FL starting in 2005. Sal died peacefully at home, during a full moon in the arms of his soulmate.
I worked with Sal as a fellow department head for 12 years before he retired. We also worked together on the 4th floor. Sal was a class act and gentleman with a great sense of humor. He left a great legacy behind for the Business Department at NQHS, RIP Sal

You are one of the finest men I ever met in my life. Kind, loving a true heart of gold. Will always remember our dinners at Carol's, bocci games in the backyard and just the wonderful friendship. Mike my heart aches for you in this loss but know the wonderful memories you have will sustain you and Sal will always be with you in your heart and in the beautiful art. Sending you love always.

Love you man. Always felt like you walked in loyalty to your friends and church. Always loved your soft and thoughtful demeanor.
I will miss you and watch the Patriots with you in mind.

“I believe my steps are growin’ wearier each day
Still I’ve got another journey on my mind
Lures of this old world have ceased to make me wanna stay
And my one regret is leavin’ you behind
But if it proves to be his will that I am first to go
And somehow I’ve a feelin’ it will be so
When it comes your time to travel likewise, don’t feel lost
For I will be the first one that you see
And I’ll be waiting on the far side banks of Jordan
I’ll be sitting drawing pictures in the sand
And when I see you coming, I will rise up with a shout
And come running through the shallow waters, reaching for your hand…”
