Obituary
Sandra Lee Miller (née Szentpetery), beloved wife of Rodney Miller for 57 years, passed away on Saturday, May 9th, 2020 at the age of 78. Devoted mother of Jeffrey (Kati) of Cincinnati, Ohio and Steven (Anita) of Raleigh, North Carolina. Loving grandmother of Gregory, Jonathan, Nikita and Alexander. Dear sister of Gail Madak (Bill) and the late Bud Szentpetery and sister-in-law of Karen Miller. She was a devoted wife, mother, grandmother, sister, aunt and friend.
Sandra was born on June 25, 1941 in Berea, Ohio to the late Herman and Virginia Szentpetery. She attended Bowling Green State University and graduated in 1963 with a degree in Education. She served in numerous teaching positions in Massachusetts, Ohio and California and was a school librarian in California for 10 years.
A 22 year resident of the Village of La Reynalda, in the Villages, Florida. She was actively involved in the New Covenant United Methodist Church including creating, growing and supervising the church library and making cards for the Care Ministry. Pastor Jeff Vermilya, Director of Congregational Care, of the New Covenant United Methodist Church praised Sandy’s work on the library, saying “Our library is the best church library that I have ever seen.”
Sandy enjoyed traveling, cruising with family, friends and neighbors, playing bridge, puzzles, swimming, reading a good book and collecting Coca-Cola Memorabilia. She had passion for card making. Sandy always had a warm smile and a welcoming manner. She will be greatly missed.
A celebration of her life will be held at New Covenant United Methodist Church on Thursday July 30,2020 at 10:00 a.m. To accommodate social distancing and COVID-19 concerns, masks and social distance seating will be required.
