Obituary
Sandra “Sandy” Joyce Ryan (Thompson) , 79, passed into God’s loving arms on January 17th, 2021 in Port Charlotte, Florida. She was born on April 8th, 1941 to parents Mildred and Richard Thompson of Saranac. She graduated from Saranac Central School and would later go on to work at the State Hospital where she met Francis Ryan, the love of her life, who became her husband of 60 years. Together they built a life, home, and family. Sandy was a loving wife, mother, grandma, and great grandma that meant so much to us all. With a sympathetic ear, she could listen to anyone that needed to talk and would always offer generous support for those in need. As an avid animal lover, she always gave special care and support to them as well. Life with her on earth was short, but in Heaven it will be eternity.
Sandy is survived by her husband Francis Ryan of Port Charlotte, FL along with their 5 children Mark Ryan and spouse Marilyn of Massena, NY., Wendy Ryan and spouse Laine of North Little Rock, AR., Cathy VanVleet of Tampa, FL., Todd Ryan and spouse Angelia of Glenmont, NY., Shawn Ryan and companion Florence Fredette of Saranac, NY. , and her sister Susan Nelson of Beekmantown, NY. Sandy has grandchildren Dylan, Jaclyn, Josh, Brendan, Maeve, Zachary, Chuck, and Sarah as well as numerous nephews, nieces, and great-grandchildren whose hearts she all touched.
Sandy was predeceased by her parents as well as her brother Richard Thompson of Dannemora, Carol Dewey of Morrisonville, and brother Scott Thompson of Saranac.
A memorial will be held in the future at Independence Cemetery in Saranac, NY. Donations may be made to The North Country SPCA.
