Obituary

Sandra L. Teets of The Villages, FL and formerly of Terra Alta, WV was warmly welcomed into the loving arms of her Lord and Savior Jesus Christ at 10:30PM on February 23, 2022 after an 11 year battle with cancer Sandy was born in Beckley, WV, the daughter of Arno and Helen Lemon. She was educated in the public schools of Raleigh County, graduating from Trap Hill High School in1965 after which she attended West Virginia University.
Sandy married James Teets of Terra Alta on November 26, 1983 and immediately became mother to a blended family of six children, all of whom survive her: Kathy Clay Reilly (Craig) of Manassas, VA; Kevin W. Clay of Kernersville, NC; James F. Teets (Lianni) of San Francisco, CA; C.J. Teets (Meredith) of Hagerstown, MD; Rebecca Teets Holt of Manassas, VA; and Sara Teets Cotto (Juan) of Seattle, WA.
Sandy was not only a mother, but also worked side by side with her husband in the various family businesses. While doing so she and her friend Brenda Teets established Traditions, a gift and Christmas shop inside of the family hardware store. She loved working behind the scenes, managing inventory, creating displays and decorating the many Christmas trees, most with their own theme. Sandy ended her working career as the Administrator of the Worker’s Compensation Appeal Board for Governor Cecil Underwood.
After retirement she along with her husband purchased a home in The Villages and became “snow birds” for 10 years before moving there permanently in 2017. As a Villager, Sandy loved golfing with her friends as well as playing Mahjongg and Samba. She was a member of Grace Evangelical Presbyterian Church in Leesburg, FL as well as maintaining her affiliation with Grace Chapel Reformed Baptist Church in Kingwood, WV.
Sandy is survived by her husband, children, eleven grandchildren and one great grandchild. She was preceded in death by her parents, her only sibling, Larry E. Lemon and a grandchild, Salvador Cotto.
The family wants to express their heartfelt thanks to the Villages Cornerstone Hospice Team and The Villages Hospice House for the excellent care and concern they gave Sandy during the final days of her life.
The family also requests that in lieu of flowers donations in Sandy’s memory be made to Grace EPC, PO Box 490001, Leesburg, FL 34749 ; Grace Chapel Baptist, PO Box 209, Kingwood, WV 26537 or The Villages Hospice House, 601 Mariposa Way, The Villages, FL 32162.
Baldwin Brothers Cremation Society has been entrusted with final arrangements and a memorial Service will be held at a future time to be announced.
